From Fondazione Mondo Digitale: "The tour of 'The Coding Girls starts in Turin".

The national tour of Coding Girls starts in Turin, involving more than 10,000 female students from 14 Italian cities from 5 to 22 November. The program, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and U.S. Embassy to Italy - American Embassy in Rome with the collaboration of Microsoft Italy, was born to spread gender equality in the fields of science and technology. After coding training in schools, on November 5, 110 students compete in a programming marathon at the University of Turin. It is only the beginning of a city project that, thanks to the alliance with the Compagnia di San Paolo, will offer opportunities for training and orientation for three years to hundreds of young women.

There are 150 university students, researchers and role models who from November 5 to 22 will be passionate about programming over 10,000 girls from 80 schools in 14 Italian cities. Overcoming conditionings and gender bias, enhancing talents and female leadership, allowing female students to experience first hand the active use of new technologies: these are just some of the challenges of the sixth edition of Coding Girls.

On November 5th the 2019 tour of Coding Girls starts in Turin. After intensive training at the schools of the city and province (IIS Bosso Monti, LSS G. Bruno, LSS Galilei Ferraris, Itc Sommeiller, Istituto Avogadro Torino, Liceo Artistico "Renato Cottini"), 110 students, led by American super coaches Anthonette Peña, National Board Certified Teacher and Teacher Lead, and Emily Bradford, Independent Writer and Software Developer based in Silicon Valley, will compete in a #hackathon at the University of Turin. The alliance with the Compagnia di San Paolo will allow the project to grow and take root in the territory: for three years the program will guide and evaluate the training and professional paths of 600 girls between 13 and 19 years old. Among the supporters of the initiative also "Stem by Women", the network from the Turin Polytechnic and the University of Turin to promote women's studies in the scientific and technological area.

In addition to the city of Turin, the Coding Girls training relay involves 13 other Italian cities: Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Catania, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Pisa, Pistoia, Reggio Calabria, Rome, Salerno, and Trieste. Thanks to the territorial animation work of the Coding Girls association, the capacity of the program to network and forge alliances with public and private subjects grows from year to year. Today the association coordinates 25 hubs in schools and involves female students and researchers from 13 Italian universities in mentoring and role modeling for the youngest.
